Beyond the Board of Peace Scam
Dear friends,
Like so many of you, we at LifelineforPalestine have been beside ourselves in grief and rage since Donald Trump’s Board of Peace scam was adopted by the UN Security Council. This sidelined Israel’s genocide in Palestine on the world stage, and delivered a knockout blow to the Uniting For Peace movement that brought justice into focus for Palestine and beyond. We are writing now because there are reasons to believe not only that humanity is still with Palestine. We are seeing for the first time signs of serious fractures within the so called Board of Peace.
You may recall a few short months ago, ninety percent of countries and the overwhelming mass of humanity were united in demanding Israel end its genocide, occupation and apartheid terror, as required by the ICJ rulings. The UN General Assembly stood at the threshold of action to support the ICJ rulings in September of 2025, when the US rammed through the Security Council the ludicrous Trump peace plan, giving cover, in the words of Craig Mokhiber, to “a raft of grave international crimes” and continuing to “consolidate the unlawful occupation, to steal the land,” and enable Trump et al to "personally profit from the illicit proceeds of these crimes.”
Global elites shamed themselves by complying with this genocidal real estate grab. But there are recent signs that its days may be numbered. With Israel’s recent illegal push to annex the West Bank, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said the quiet part out loud, noting the move was aimed at “burying the idea of a Palestinian state”. This prompted condemnation in the strongest terms by eight Muslim-majority countries, all on the Board of Peace.
Shortly thereafter, US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, announced to the world that he would be fine if Israel expands into biblical “Greater Israel”, effectively annexing Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and parts of Saudi Arabia. He thereby sparked outrage across the world and widespread calls for his immediate resignation.
We thank Huckabee and Smotrich for reminding the world that the colonial agenda served by the Board of Peace is fundamentally at war with sovereignty, dignity and human rights in Palestine, the region, and far beyond. The sooner the world abandons the criminal Board of Peace, the sooner we can return to the human rights framework to end genocide, hold perpetrators accountable, and create a future of justice, security and peace for all people. This has been the global framework of this struggle for the past eight decades. It’s time to restore it.
Lifeline for Palestine will continue to follow developments and support mobilizations to revive the movement for Palestinian human rights and an end to the continuing genocide and occupation.
Once you’ve seen truth you can’t unsee it – including the interconnection of the genocide in Gaza and the barbaric global behavior of US empire. This includes US actions on the world stage – including the assault on Venezuela, the impending attack on Iran, the threats against Cuba, Colombia, Mexico, Greenland, Canada and more. And it includes US actions domestically, where we face a growing emergency of rising fascism.
These crises are fundamentally joined at the hip. In struggling against them all, we multiply our numbers immeasurably.

Stop ICE Terror! Prevent The Coup!
Had enough funding - with your tax dollars - violent masked thugs terrorizing our communities, kidnapping people, seizing children, invading homes and killing Americans?
In fact it’s worse than that.
This rampaging mob, from ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is also key to an emerging attempt to hijack elections in November.
We can stop both terror in our streets and the threatened coup by demanding that Congress stop squandering our tax dollars on these dangerous, lawless, irredeemable agencies NOW!.
$10 billion in ICE funding is currently on the table that will worsen the crisis. The Democrats’ proposed “guard rails” to “rein in” ICE abuses are ineffective and/or already in place, and a nonstarter given that ICE and CBP are lawless, violent agencies that do not play by the rules.
Specifically, we call on Congress to:
1.) Withhold the ~$10 billion in funding for ICE in the DHS appropriation bill, HR 1747, now under discussion, and
2.) Rescind the $170 billion already appropriated for ICE/DHS expansion (in the Big Beautiful Bill).
Use those funds instead to start expanding Medicare into a comprehensive, single payer Medicare for All system (which will save ~$½ trillion dollars per year when operational) and other human needs.

ADDITIONAL BACKGROUND
-Donald Trump has called for nationalizing elections. Trump advisor Steve Bannon has called for ICE to surround polling stations in Nov.
-Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem (https://thehill.com/people/kristi-noem/) claims she has the authority to ensure local and state elections are “run correctly.” (Hill 2026.02.14 https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5739328-noem-voting-midterm-elections/)
-Add to that, the White House is laying groundwork right now for seizing control of elections - the FBI has snatched voting records in Alabama, DOJ is suing states all over the country for voter information, and AG Bondi tried extorting it from Minnesota.
-All are pushing for the draconian “SAVE” voter ID law that would prevent 10s of millions of legal voters from voting,including 21 million eligible voters who don’t have ready access to a passport or birth certificate, and up to 69 million women whose married name doesn’t match their birth certificate or passports.
-President Trump (https://thehill.com/people/donald-trump/) has now announced he will isse an executive order (https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5738317-trump-voter-id-executive-order/) to accomplish the same goal. “There will be Voter I.D. for the Midterm Elections, whether approved by Congress or not!” he wrote on Truth Social.
Here's the bottom line. We’re heading for a violent standoff at the polls are underway with ICE and CBP as the ground troops to make it happen. And Congress is funding it!
